In 2005 Sparkle Markets celebrated the chain's 50th anniversary.
In celebration of the event, the locally owned and operated grocery chain presented one lucky winner with a two-year pre-paid lease on a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt.

Sparkle Markets Association President (and store owner) Charles Zander said selecting the Chevrolet Cobalt as a prize was an easy decision. “Sparkle has been a vital part of this community for 50 years now, and we understand how important it is to support products made by our local work force.”

In addition to the Cobalt, Sparkle Markets also gave away $19,200 in gift certificates. Each of the twenty-four Sparkle locations awarded four $50 gift certificates per week, during the annniversay celebration.

Sparkle’s long-running cooking program “Great Groceries” also contributed to the anniversary festivities. Viewers were asked to send in their favorite family recipes for a chance to win one $50 Sparkle gift certificate. Winners were selected by Nancy, the show’s host.

 “So many of the recipes we’ve featured on the show have become some of my family’s favorites,” Nancy said. “I look forward to reading through all the recipes, and I’m sure I’ll be adding some to my personal collection.”
